My Services
Typically performed in a special massage chair, seated massage is perfect for working on shoulder and upper back issues. However, the entire back can be massaged, along with arms, hands, neck, and scalp. In some cases, a massage can also be performed using a regular chair.
-
Sessions range from 15 to 45 minutes, and in some cases up to 60 minutes depending on the client's comfort level.
-
There is no need to disrobe and lotions are not used, unless desired on the hands.
-
Besides not requiring clients to disrobe, an advantage of seated massage over table massage is that it can be performed in a smaller space.

Foot massage differs from reflexology in that massage focuses on the muscles of the foot. Reflexology, on the other hand (or foot), focuses on meridians and each point is intended to affect a specific area of the body. Integrative foot massage may include a bit of reflexology but is billed primarily as a treatment for aching feet. However, studies have shown that massaging the feet can have effects on the entire body, including reducing pain.
-
Clients not at risk for blood clots because of prolonged bed rest or underlying medical conditions may choose to have their calves massaged as well.
-
In the home it may be performed using a recliner or couch. (A pillow over one armrest of the couch makes for an impromptu leg support.) A portable zero-gravity chair may also be used, especially for events.
-
Lotion may be used.

Geriatric massage is performed with the client fully clothed and hands-on time is generally limited to 30 minutes. Occasionally massages may be extended to 45 minutes depending on client tolerance.
-
Gentle bodywork is used, borrowing techniques from Swedish massage, acupressure, and energy work.
-
Massages may be performed wherever the client is comfortable. That may be a recliner or chair (including wheelchair), and occasionally a bed for frailer clients.
-
As with all clients, you will be asked about any health issues, and a little more time may be needed to review your intake, including any medications that could affect the massage.

I love to customize each massage for every unique individual.
-
For a special treat, aromatherapy can be included in your relaxing foot massage as an add-on.
-
If you want to treat a group, we can think of something special outside the box. One of my memorable events was giving soothing hand massages to shower guests. Another was treating shoe store patrons to foot massages to celebrate the launch of a new shoe line.

For in-home massage, don’t forget that more than one person can receive a massage, even if they may not be receiving the same treatment. Caregivers can also receive massages. If you crave a foot massage and your friend can’t stand to have their feet touched and would rather have a back and shoulder massage, not a problem. And individuals can always combine both.
Every day brings something new in the field of massage, and if there is something special you want to bring to your group, we can discuss it. For larger events requiring multiple massage therapists, I have many great contacts to whom I can reach out as well.
